The Angel Experiment

Author: James Patterson
Series: Maximum Ride, Book 1
Rate (On a scale of 1-10): 8

In James Patterson's blockbuster series, fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride, better known as Max, knows what it's like to soar above the world. She and all the members of the "flock"--Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman and Angel--are just like ordinary kids--only they have wings and can fly. It may seem like a dream come true to some, but their lives can morph into a living nightmare at any time...like when Angel, the youngest member of the flock, is kidnapped and taken back to the "School" where she and the others were experimented on by a crew of wack jobs. Her friends brave a journey to blazing hot Death Valley, CA, to save Angel, but soon enough, they find themselves in yet another nightmare--this one involving fighting off the half-human, half-wolf "Erasers" in New York City. Whether in the treetops of Central Park or in the bowels of the Manhattan subway system, Max and her adopted family take the ride of their lives. Along the way Max discovers from her old friend and father-figure Jeb--now her betrayed and greatest enemy--that her purpose is save the world--but can she?

So I love the Maximum Ride series. I'm re-reading it now in prepartion of the last book- Nevermore- which comes out in August. Super excited, definitely. But the question is.. Fang (whom I adore, for sure) or Dylan (who was freaking made for her. Hard to beat, wouldn't you say?)
This is the first book in the series, and it's great at explaining things. But what it's absolutely fantastic at is getting the ball rolling. Action, back to back. It's lovely. Especially since I've read the Fallen series lately (description to the extreme) and Marked (MEH. Just go read my review.) Anyways.
I already liked Fang. You can tell he and Max had a connection. He's so stoic though. But sweet. And dark. *fans self*
Okay! Other characters! Angel was a sweetheart (plus I love her name) but you can tell there's something else there. She's only six years old, but goodness that girl has something in her! Nudge is.. Nudge. Annoying at times. Gasman (oh, that name) he was pretty cute for an eight year old. I liked Iggy too. I mean, a blind guy who can cook and make bombs? What else could you possibly want?! ;)
Max was, sorry, is one of my faovrite heroines. She's stuff, determined, meant to save the world..:) Sarcastic too. My favorite type. :)
I'd give this 4 out of five stars. Plus a bonus for the whole they-have-wings-oh-my-God-they're-mutants thing. Yeah. It's original.
