One hour to rewrite the past . . .
For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.
So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.
Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?
I loved the originality of this book! I've never read a time travelling book before, and I'm so glad I started with this one.
.
Emerson was such a pleasure to read. She was realistic, apart from the rip seeing and time travelling of course. She can flip a grown man over her shoulder! I'm a big fan of a strong girl playng the lead role. Emerson fits that requirement quite well.
I also love a dreamy guy. Michael, whilst not a Jace or Noah or Daemon per say, is still dreamy. He's not as rough around the edges. He's more of the flower type of guy verses the insulting sarcasm type that the above mentioned are. He's so sweet and brave, it's endearing. I admire him for his perseveness. Is that a word? Oh well.
I also enjoyed all the other characters. Dru, Kaleb, Jack, Thomas, pretty much everyone contributed to the plotline. It was a well rounded story. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in time travel, or a romance with a twist.
.
Four stars! I was plesantly surprised, by both Michael and Emerson.
