Obsidian

Author: Jennifer Armentrout. Because no other other could write a dreamy alien.
Series: Lux, Book 1
Rate (On a scale of 1-10): Infinity.

When seventeen-year-old Katy Swartz moved to West Virginia right before her senior year, she’d pretty much resigned herself to thick accents, dodgy Internet access, and a whole lot of boring, but then she spotted her hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up…until he opened his mouth.

Daemon Black is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. It’s hate at first sight, but when a stranger attacks her and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot guy next door? Well, he’s an alien. Turns out that Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities and Katy is caught in the crosshairs.
Daemon’s touch has lit her up like the Vegas Strip and the only way she’s getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until her alien mojo fades. That is if she doesn’t kill him first.

I loved this series! I love Jennifer Armentrout's Covenant series, as well. She's a fantastic author.

Normally, as Katy put it, "ET doesn't do it for me." Aliens just aren't my thing. But Obsidian, holy crap. I love aliens! Especially if it's name is Daemon. ;)

I loved Katy! She's a fellow blogger, and funny, sarcastic, witty, stupidly brave, and beautiful. No one could do what she does and still be normal. I LOVE that she's a fellow blogger! And the blog is authentic, you can google it and everything! I love her internal commentary. I've not heard anyone in a while so is so sarcastic, both internally and externally. Inside her head is like, wow. Some of my favorite quotes are from her, not just Daemon. I’d brake-checked him several times. He’d blown his horn. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside." I love her as a character. She's fantastic.

Daemon. Oh, holy hell. Perfect. Beautiful. Jerkish. Sarcastic to the extreme. My perfection. He's another Jace, or Noah. Only meaner. At the beginning, he's mean. Rude. "“You look like you’re twelve. No. Maybe thirteen, but my sister has this doll that kinda reminds me of you. All big-eyed and vacant.”" He said that the first time they met. I think I fell in love with him before we learned his name. Yep, I did. Anyways, this boy is super amazing. One of the most powerful of their kind, and adorably (if not a little bit too much) protective of his little sister, Dee. He really cares about Katy, and for me that's obvious. I love the ending of the book, and the laptop scene (which is now infamous), and both lake scenes. Brilliant writing, Ms. Armentrout.

I love Katy and Daemon together! They're both so perfect for each other. Every time they're together there's always at least one sentence, whether it's dialogue or not, that always makes me smile or sometimes outright laugh. They have such good charisma and chemistry. It's downright combustible, the chemistry. They're just so.. Hott together. Yes. That's two "t"s. Well deserved, too. :)

I give this book 5/5 stars, definitely. Or 60. I can't decide.

Onyx (Book 2) comes out August 14!
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Happy reading my wonderful readers.
