The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer ♥

Author: Michelle Hodkin
Series: Mara Dyer, Book 1
Rate (On a scale of 1-10): 50. It's freaking amazing.

Mara Dyer doesn't believe life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.
There is.

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.

I love this series. I love Mara and her complicated past, and I love Noah and his.. Well everything.

Mara doesn't know she's beautiful. She seriously doesn't know it. This is what Noah thinks when he firsts sees her:

"She stands there in dark jeans that would be indecent if she didn't wear them so casually, with a loose, faded black T-shirt that sets off her cream skin. Not from Florida, clearly new, and so beautiful I nearly laughed out loud." Aww, Noah. I freaking love you. ♥

I loved Mara. She's vulgar and snarky and brilliant. For weeks after I read this book, and then reread a week later, I wanted to dress like a vintage model like she did at the costume party. I loved her relationship with Noah. It was instant, it had chemistry, and it was perfect.

Noah Shaw, oh my. Where to start? He's British, and unbelievably perfect. It's like he walked out of my dreams into Michelle's head. God, he's just so amazing. He's mean to some people (Anna) but he has this soft side for Mara, animals, and his stepmom, not to mention his little sister Katie. I bought this book on my Kindle, and therefore have the ability to highlight quotes I like. I think, that if Noah said something even remotely funny, the entire page was highlighted. I’m horrible about my book crushes. By horrible I mean fanatic. Obsessive. ;) Noah is the freaking best. I love his feelings for Mara. They’re so.. Definite. And infinite.

I love the writing in Mara Dyer. To steal Cassie Clare's words, it's "haunting and dreamlike." It leaves you wanting so much more long after the book is finished. The Evolution of Mara Dyer, which is the sequel, comes out October 23. I'm counting down the days, believe me. Especially after that ending. Goodness.

There are some novels that just speak to you, and authors as well. I don't know what motivated Michelle Hodkin to write this, but whatever it was, I thank it dearly. I read this book for one reason: The YA Sisterhood described Noah as a British Jace. That is why I read Mara Dyer, and I'm so very thankful I did. It's a close second to my favorite series preceded only by The Mortal Instruments.

I would like to thank Michelle Hodkin really quick for making such an AMAZING book. You are seriously my dream author, and I love your writing. So follow her blogger, The Michelle Show, her tumblr, or Twitter. :)

I would give this 20 out of five stars. It's just that fantastic. :)
